The cougars snagged a late lead and defeated Mars 4-3 on Thursday. The game was tied at three with blackhawk batting in the top of the eighth when Ray Knallay tripled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Mars scored three runs in the first inning, but Cougars still managed to pull out the victory.
The cougars got things started in the first inning when an error scored one run Mars knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the first inning.
Mario Borello on the pitcher’s mound for the cougars. He lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out one. Chris Deluca pitched the final two innings not allowing a run to pick up the win.
Cougars racked up eight hits on the day. Marco Borello and Zach Zuchelli each had multiple hits for Cougars. Zuchelli and Borello each collected two hits to lead Cougars.
